Endorse OTS' new purpose this Giving Tuesday

Almost sixty years ago, the founding vision of OTS was framed in the context of a stable and reliable natural world. The last 50 years, however, have seen the emergence of new questions, new solutions and new allies.
Our world has evolved.

It is time for us to reframe OTS’ value to the world in the context of a dynamic but unpredictable future and embrace a whole new spectrum and powerful opportunities.

Thank you to all who helped us design the OTS of the future. We cannot be more grateful. We have recognized that, to amplify our impact, OTS will need to address the needs of three groups of stakeholders:  (1) Science Pioneers, the current and future scientists working to advance the insights and techniques of our field; (2) Science Participants, non-scientists, who care about tropical nature and who can support, share and amplify the impact of our work, from the ground up; and (3) Science Stewards, policy makers, community leaders and business leaders who can be catalysts for large-scale scientific influence from the top down.

To better serve our stakeholders, OTS has adopted a new purpose for the 21st century: To sustain our tropical ecosystems by driving scientific discovery and knowledge, by enriching human perception of nature, and by enhancing worldwide policy actions in the tropics

This is a critical transition year for OTS, as we transition from being mostly academic to being purpose driven. As we integrate and amplify the work at all of our research stations, from Las Cruces and La Selva to Palo Verde and Skukuza. And as we start to roll out a whole new suite of exciting new programs to propel us into the future.

Science has never been more important and never more at risk. Share your voice with OTS, help us bring other voices together and give the world something to talk about.

Together with your help we can sustain our tropical ecosystems by driving scientific discovery and knowledge, enriching human perception of nature, and enhancing worldwide policy actions in the tropics.

We challenge you to make
your gift today!
